Planning should reflect community values and a clear vision for the future. Good planning is like good technology: accessible, purposeful, user-friendly, and embraced by the masses.

Our Story
Frontier Forward was formed by Shawn Hill in 2013 to provide planning services in unique situations. Typically, clients come to us with a need to obtain community buy-in for complex projects. In response, we provide dynamic, practical solutions. Much of our work has been in resort communities where demand for high-quality planning is high, and holistic solutions are necessary. We also seek to facilitate information-sharing through our research and collaboration services.
The Character Dimension
The idea of "Frontier Forward" is the evolution of planning in the west. The Homestead Act of 1862 led to the township and range system which rendered much of the West as a two-dimensional grid. However, plats and surveys do not a community make. Frontier Forward seeks to add what we call the "character dimension," an approach to planning that incorporates people, place, and products.
